We returned to Porto yesterday, a city we have enjoyed in the past. We are staying again at Palacio do Freixo, within walking distance of the city, but on the Douro River and more quiet than in the city center. We saw a few of our favorite things in Porto, while looking for and finding an optical store to repair Papa's glasses. Sao Bento Train Station is beautiful with its interior covered in azulejos. The Se' interior is somewhat harsh, but I took a tour of the cloisters, with walls covered in azulejos and hand painted chapels. They were beautiful! We walked across the Dom Luis I bridge as the sun was setting, with magnificent light falling on the Douro River and the cities on both sides,
Porto and Vila de Nova Gaia. We had a wonderful day!
