Lechuguilla Blooms

We can set our calendar by blooming lechuguilla.  They start to send up their flower stalks in late April/early May, and by the last week of May, the first blooms have opened on the curve in the road uphill of Red Rock Canyon.  Millions of other stalks will flower on the ranch during the month of June.  Lechuguilla is fragrant, so we get a whiff of perfumed air every time we pass them. 

Ranch Guests

Guests from Tucson arrived early yesterday.  We had fruit on the Rock House porch 

and explored the old headquarters, before coming up the hill.  We hiked a bit 

and had lunch on our house porch.  It was a beautiful day!

Clever Gifts

Thinking of birthday gifts for Papa isn't easy.  Our girls gave him very clever gifts this year... a morning at the spa for both of us, a big jar of horse treats, and boxes of Fiddle Faddle.  We will celebrate with the whole family, with a week on the beach in Eleuthera, Bahamas, in late July. 

More Celebrations

We've had a busy week of celebrations, Papa's 70th birthday and graduations.  On Wednesday, 

Mary joined us for lunch at Dove Mountain Ritz Carlton, where we sat outside 

and enjoyed the views and catching up for a couple of hours.

On Thursday, Rudy joined us at Arizona Inn for lunch and we had lunch 

with a longtime friend today.  Its been a wonderful week!

Two Graduations

We went to two graduations last evening, Rincon High School and Catalina High School.  We stayed for the opening march and start of ceremonies at Rincon, with Meybelyn, Zratie, Alex, Gabi, and Haji graduating.  We went on to Catalina, where we saw Rudy get his diploma.  His family invited us to a party afterwards, where we had the best Mexican dinner ever!  We are so proud of all our BGC kids!

Happy 70th Birthday!

Papa turned 70 today!  Oh what a life, with such wonderful experiences and memories!

Early Morning Ride

Colter and his Dad, Colter Lee, and Traven, arrived at our house by 6:15 this morning, to meet Papa for an early morning ride.  They are checking on cows and moving pairs of cows into two different pastures.  I always have fun watching the boys get ready to ride and get on their horses.  Traven still needs some help.  Colter Lee does it all by himself.

Girls in the UK

Our girls are in the UK, having a girls weekend, seeing a bit of London, Avebury, Bath, 

and  Stonehenge.  They have been sending lots of photos!  Love our girls!
