Day 2, Mont Saint Michel to the Loire Valley

Papa and I slept in to 8:45!  That's a record for us!  We hurried to breakfast, then packed up and drove back to Mont Saint Michel one last time.  The day was perfectly clear all day.  We drove south to Fougeres.  We walked down to the medieval quarters and to the ancient chateau, built between  the 11th an 15th centuries, and beautifully maintained.  On to Vitre, another adorable town with another incredible chateau.  Then past one chateau and then another through checkerboard rolling hills covered in farms, with corn fields freshly cut next to grassy pastures with more lazy fat cows.  We drove along the Loire River for several miles, south of Angers, to Saumur.  The estates along the Loire in the section we drove through were lined up, one next to the other as there are rocky hillsides just behind.  Virtually every estate had their own cave, for growing mushrooms or storing wine.  In Saumur we walked around and up the hill to the big chateau, then we had more patisseries and fresh bread,

We then drove to our bed and breakfast for the night.  We were the only guests at Loire les Fontaines.  The home was a large 2 story cut stone home with beautiful garden in front.  The owner, Marie, was as nice and welcoming as can be.  Our room was well decorated with beautiful linens.  We're having a good time!
