I love planning trips! I enjoy doing the research about the best way to get from place to place, local history, best places to visit, historic lodging, recommended restaurants and cafes, all of it! Over the past two days, I've planned a trip to Colorado for this coming week. We're planning to leave on Monday morning. We'll stop for lunch at the El Rey Cafe in Miami, AZ, with Peggy and Charlie, long time family friends of Papa.
We'll drive all afternoon on Monday, through the mountains of central Arizona and northwest New Mexico, and hope to arrive in Durango, CO by 8-9 p.m. We're staying with a long time friend of Papa. Dick and Papa worked together 40 years ago at Ernst and Ernst in Tucson and we've stayed in touch through the years. On Tuesday morning, we'll drive north on the San Juan Skyway, through Silverton and Ouray, and will stay overnight in Glenwood Springs at the historic Hotel Colorado. We plan to meet Whitney and her family on Wednesday morning in Beaver Creek. Toby and Greta, Papa and Lulu are looking forward to playing with you in the Colorado mountain air!
