Statue of Liberty

On Day 3 of our NYC trip, Whitney, Toby, Greta, and their babysitter, Nora, met us at our hotel at 9:30 a.m.  We took the subway downtown and rode the Staten Island Ferry to Staten Island and back, passing the Statue of Liberty both ways.  It was the first day since Hurricane Sandy that the
Statue of Liberty was open to the public.  She's quite the majestic lady!
We had lunch with Whitney and family, then parted ways at Ground Zero.  One World Trade Center, the centerpiece of the new complex is 1776' high, making it the tallest building in the western hemisphere. From there we walked past City Hall to Chinatown.  We had gelato in Little Italy, then crossed Greenwich Village to the Highline, one of New York City's newest attractions. After dinner at Angelo's Pizza and more gelato at Grom, we watched July 4 fireworks.  What a day!
