We depend on summer rains to give the plants on the ranch needed nourishment, to replenish the water table, and to cool the air. Thus far in 2012, we've had three rain showers, one 1/4" rain in February, one 1/2" rain in May, and a 3/4" rain in June. Three rain showers in six months doesn't add up to much, with 250 cattle plus 180 calves on the ranch, all hungry and needing more to eat. Fingers crossed, we are hopeful to get rain this week. Love those clouds over the mountains!
