Prickly pear is not my favorite plant, but it has it's moments! It's flowers are beautiful. When plumped up by a rain shower, it's skin is deeper green. When the desert is at it's driest, cows will eat prickly pear as a last resort, so it clearly has nutritional value to our ranch animals.
