Cruising South America
We are preparing this week to leave on a two week cruise from Los Angeles to Miami through the Panama Canal. As I was packing today, I was reminded of the last cruise Papa and I took, in January 2009, from Valparaiso, Chile around Cape Horn, to the Falklands, Montevideo, Uruguay, and ending in Buenos Aires, where we met our girls and their hubbies for a few days of sightseeing and spending time together. These are some favorite photos... flowers, penguins, cruising the Beagle Channel, the beauty of Montevideo, and San Telmo in Buenos Aires.

Potato Print T-Shirt
A few days ago, Madilyn came over to spend the day. She loves painting t-shirts, so we used a potato to do the printing on the shirt. I cut up a potato, one half piece for the flower petals, a small round piece for bubbles, and a medium size circle for the center of the flower. We free hand painted the stem and leaves. We used fabric paints and mixed colors to get the shades she wanted. Both Madilyn and I were proud of her results and she has a cute yellow flower t-shirt to wear to kindergarten!

Keeping things Fresh
Over the past couple of weeks, Papa and I have been painting and freshening the bunkhouse and Rock House on the Ranch. The bunkhouse painting is close to being complete, with only the doors left to paint. I started painting the Rock House yesterday. There is much left to do!
Soon after we purchased the Ranch in 2003, we began renovating the Rock House and bunkhouse. We replaced the roofs, rebuilt ceilings that had caved in, had the plumbing reworked, and both houses were rewired electrically. We cleaned all the junk out of both and had a pile in the driveway that was at least 6' tall x 20' wide. It became quite a bonfire! By the time we got to painting, it was early 2004, cold, and we were in a hurry to finish. This time around, we are taking our time and the results are nicer.
