Country of Georgia

Papa and I arrived in Tbilisi at 3:30 a.m. on Monday.  We are very happy to see Claire and her family!  Monday was a lazy day for us, with plenty of playing with Colby and Emerson.  Claire took us on a short drive to Jvari Monastery, built between 580 and 604 AD, on a hill above the city of Mtskheta, and at the confluence of the Mtkvari and Aragvi Rivers.  It is a stunning location.

We drove down the steep hill to Mtskheta, which is considered the spiritual capital of Georgia, to visit the famous church, the Cathedral of Sveti Tskhoveli.  The first church was built on the site in the 4th century AD and replaced in 575.  The church built in 575 was incorporated into the current church, built in 1010-1029.  Much of the interior is covered in frescoes.  A stone wall surrounds the church and the Jvari Monastery sits on a hill above it.  Colby, Claire, Papa, and I had fun!

Late this afternoon, I went with Claire for a fitting, as she is having a couple of things altered by a local Georgian seamstress.  We have had fun reading and playing with Emerson and Colby too!
