Playing at the Neighbor's House

Colter and Carly are our nearest neighbors, 2.5 miles away.  They invited Emerson and Colby over to play this morning, so off we went by 9.  Madilyn, Colter Lee, and Traven were good hosts, and helped Emerson and Colby catch their goats, rope, and ride them.  Claire roped goats too!  They all had fun on the trampoline, playing with the cats, and snacking on popsicles. 

Another Good Day!

Sunday was a day of more hiking, horseback riding, and tractor work.  Our hike was up a different ridge, so we could see new agave blooms.  We roasted marshmallows.  Another good day!

Day on the Ranch

We checked on calves, hiked up the mountain, rode horses, washed rocks, and rode with Papa on Fergie.  After dinner, we rode down to the Rock House in the ranger to check on the horses, and were caught in a little rain, perfect for playing!  We had a good day with Emerson and Colby!

 

Riding and Roping

We had a busy day, riding horses, looking for rocks, playing with Madilyn, Colter Lee, and Traven, roping, and riding in the ranger.  Emerson and Colby's smiles were priceless.

 

We're Going on a Bear Hunt

Claire arrived at the ranch this afternoon, with Emerson and Colby.  After settling in a bit and having dinner, Papa read We're Going on a Bear Hunt.  All three of them were engrossed in the tale.

Chollas in Bloom

Chollas are in bloom across the ranch.  Their blossoms are exquisite!

Riding to Check on Cows

Colter, Justin, Colter Lee, and Traven were out early this morning, on horseback to check on the cows.  They came by the house early afternoon, after a six+ hour ride.  All was good on the ranch.

Helicopters Watching Us

This morning while hiking, I noticed a helicopter circling and appearing to land on Bald Ridge.  It circled and disappeared behind the ridge, then swooped around again and again.  After an hour or more, the chopper flew very near our house.  It circled in front of the house five or six times.  I took photos from our porch.  We think they were doing military maneuvers on Bald Ridge, but the circling by our house was just being nosy.

The Moon

All Around the House at Sunset

Papa and I were outside on the patio as the sun was setting yesterday.  We walked all around the house and enjoyed the last rays of sun as they hit the mountains east, south, west, and north.
