After a perfect afternoon in Canyon de Chelly on Monday, we stayed overnight in Chinle. After breakfast the next morning, we drove along the north rim of the canyon. The North Rim Drive is 34 miles round trip and has several beautiful cliff dwellings along the way.
The Antelope House Ruin is named for the illustrations of antelope attributed to a Novajo artist who lived in the canyon in the early 1800's. The site has has a circular plaza built in the 1300's. Further along, Mummy Cave Ruin, was occupied until about 1300, and is one of the largest
Puebloan villages in Canyon de Chelly.
